‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ Stars Reveal Unique Bond with Director Imtiaz Ali

Actors Vedang Raina and Sharvari, who play romantic leads in Main Vaapas Aaunga, have shared insights into the unconventional process through which they were cast in the upcoming film directed by Imtiaz Ali.

According to the actors, there was no formal audition or screen test. Instead, their interactions with Imtiaz Ali revolved around lengthy personal conversations that rarely touched upon films or scripts.

Vedang Raina, who made his acting debut with The Archies, said he had first met Imtiaz Ali much earlier and instantly admired the filmmaker’s conversational style and artistic sensibilities. Recalling the meeting, Raina said they discussed music, culture, family, and his Kashmiri roots rather than acting or career ambitions.

The actor described working with Imtiaz Ali as a long-held dream, citing the director’s acclaimed films such as Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar, Highway, Tamasha and Amar Singh Chamkila, all of which have built a strong emotional connection with audiences over the years.
