Golden Chariot to Offer Enhanced Luxury Travel Across South India
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has announced the relaunch of the upgraded Golden Chariot luxury train for the 2026-27 tourist season with enhanced amenities, redesigned interiors, and curated South Indian travel itineraries. The revamped train aims to offer a blend of traditional heritage and modern luxury for domestic and international travellers.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced the launch of the upgraded Golden Chariot for the 2026-27 tourist season, introducing several modern onboard facilities and promotional offers aimed at enhancing the travel experience.
According to an official statement issued by IRCTC, the luxury train, renowned for showcasing the cultural heritage, architecture, and scenic beauty of South India, is returning in a refreshed form that combines traditional elegance with contemporary comforts.
The upgraded Golden Chariot now features redesigned interiors, improved cabins with plush furnishings, smart televisions, and Wi-Fi-enabled entertainment systems. Passenger safety has also been strengthened through the installation of CCTV surveillance systems and advanced fire alarm mechanisms.

The luxury train can accommodate up to 80 guests across 40 cabins, including double-bed and twin-bed configurations, along with a specially designed cabin for differently-abled passengers.
IRCTC has also announced three curated travel itineraries for the upcoming season. The “Pride of Karnataka” tour is a six-day journey covering destinations such as Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hampi, and Goa. The “Jewels of South” itinerary includes stops at Mysuru, Mahabalipuram, Thanjavur, and Kochi. Meanwhile, the shorter “Glimpses of Karnataka” package offers a four-day exploration of prominent heritage destinations in Karnataka.
The relaunch of the Golden Chariot reflects growing efforts to promote luxury rail tourism and showcase India’s heritage destinations through premium travel experiences.
