Massive Fire in Delhi Under Control After Rescue Operation
15 rescued as fire in four-storey building brought under control; relief measures underway
A devastating fire in Vivek Vihar claimed the lives of nine people early Sunday morning, officials said.
According to the Delhi Fire Services, the blaze broke out on multiple floors of a four-storey building. Fourteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and the fire was brought under control by 6:25 AM.
Fire officer Mukesh Verma stated that 15 people were rescued during the firefighting and evacuation operation. The rescue mission has since been completed.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu expressed deep grief over the incident, extending condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
He also directed authorities to ensure immediate medical assistance, relief, and support for those affected by the tragedy.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire.
