State Govt Steps In with Financial Support After Fatal Accident

CMDRF to cover medical costs; Cabinet also approves additional posts for Pay Commission

The Kerala government has announced financial assistance for victims of the Valparai accident involving a vehicle carrying teachers, staff, and family members of Pang Government UP School, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

The State Cabinet has approved a compensation of ₹10 lakh each for the families of five deceased individuals who did not have insurance coverage. The assistance will be provided through the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).

The beneficiaries include the families of school bus driver Naushad Ali, cooking staff member Sajida, Rukhiya, Shakeela, and student Mohammed Hisham. For those who had insurance, the government will reimburse any medical expenses exceeding the coverage limit.

The Cabinet also decided to bear the treatment costs of the injured, including Mohammed Shahad, Masneen, and driver Mohammed Fahis, ensuring comprehensive support for affected families.

In addition, the Cabinet ratified the creation of 14 additional posts to facilitate the functioning of the 12th Pay Commission.

The measures reflect the state’s commitment to providing relief and support to victims while strengthening administrative capacity.
