Ukraine, Germany Sign Defence Pact to Expand Military Cooperation
Ukraine and Germany have signed a new defence cooperation agreement during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Berlin, strengthening military collaboration between the two nations. The pact includes expanded German support in critical areas such as air defence systems, long-range weapons, drones, and ammunition supplies.
At a joint press conference, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the agreement also covers broader cooperation, including joint drone production.
Several supplementary accords were signed alongside a memorandum of understanding between the two defence ministries to facilitate electronic exchange of military data. Merz emphasized that Europe must remain central to any internationally supported effort aimed at ending the war in Ukraine and securing a credible peace settlement.
